Pakistani actress Ayesha Omar is all set to host Lazawal Ishq, the country’s first-ever dating show, based on Love Island. The show is yet to premiere, and it is already making waves on social media, but all for the wrong reasons.
Lazawal Ishq has received a huge backlash from the audience, with several social media users demanding a ban on the Pakistani dating show. The show is slated to premiere on YouTube, and the country has no control over the streaming platform.
However, the nation's broadcasting regulator stated on Saturday that it was unable to take any action in response to the public complaints as they have no control over the streaming platform.
Ayesha will host Lazawal Ishq, also known as Eternal Love, which was shot in Istanbul. The show is based on the Turkish format Aşk Adası and is similar to the popular international franchise Love Island.
Lazawal Ishq will feature four Pakistani men and women in a lavish villa where they all interact with each other to find true love. The contestants’ interactions will be captured on camera.
The backlash started after Omar released the Lazawal Ishq promo featuring herself cruising the Bosporus last week before opening the villa to the competitors. Social media users quickly slammed the teaser, accusing it of mimicking Western culture and labelling the format "un-Islamic."
In a recent conversation with a Pakistan-based Fashion Times magazine, host Ayesha revealed that the project was “a first of its kind for Pakistani and Urdu-speaking viewers.”

The actress also noted that the upcoming dating show will feature “love, bonding, and competition,” with audiences witnessing “every spark, every fight, and every heartfelt connection.”
In the show, the eight competitors engage in alliances and challenges over the course of 100 episodes, culminating in the selection of a single couple as the winner.
Lazawal Ishq is scheduled to release on YouTube on September 29.
