The post quickly grabbed attention online, with fans flooding the comments section with excitement about the return of the series.

Since the first season ended, viewers have been eager to know what lies ahead for the characters, and Shahid Kapoor’s update has now confirmed that the story is moving forward.

Adding to the buzz, Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK also teased the project’s progress on social media. The duo shared an image of currency notes with the caption, “Round 2 in progress.” The subtle hint instantly reminded fans of the show’s central theme — the world of counterfeit money and the high-stakes drama surrounding it.

The first season of Farzi premiered in February 2023 on Amazon Prime Video and quickly became one of the platform’s most talked-about Indian series.

The story followed Sunny, played by Shahid Kapoor, a talented but struggling artist who gets pulled into the dangerous business of counterfeit currency. What begins as a desperate attempt to make money soon spirals into a complex web of crime, power and survival.

The eight-episode series blended crime, drama and dark humour, earning praise for its gripping narrative and performances. It also marked Shahid Kapoor’s debut in the streaming world, and his portrayal of Sunny was widely appreciated by both critics and audiences.

Alongside Shahid Kapoor, the show featured a strong ensemble cast including Vijay Sethupathi, Raashii Khanna, Kay Kay Menon, Bhuvan Arora, Regina Cassandra and veteran actor Amol Palekar in key roles.

Apart from Farzi 2, Shahid Kapoor also has another major project in the pipeline. The actor is set to star in Cocktail 2 alongside Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna.

The film will be directed by Homi Adajania and produced by Dinesh Vijan under the banner of Maddock Films.

While the filming of Farzi 2 has now begun, the makers are yet to announce when the new season will premiere. For now, fans will have to wait a little longer to see how Sunny’s story unfolds in the next chapter.
