Dulquer Salmaan’s period drama Kaantha has finally arrived on the OTT platform. The film opened in the theatres with mixed reviews from the critics. The cast received praise for their stellar performances, but the film’s screenplay and pacing were severely criticised.
However, fans can now watch Kaantha on Netflix in multiple languages. The social media platform announced the streaming of the series with a powerful poster of the film.
The poster was featured with the caption, “A broken promise and a murder buried. When love and revenge collide, who walks away safely? Watch Kaantha, now on Netflix in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu and Malayalam, and as Shaantha in Kannada.”
Directed by Selvamani Swaraj, Kaantha is backed jointly by Rana Daggubati, Dulquer Salmaan, Prashanth Potluri, and Jom Varghese under the banners of Spirit Media Pvt. Ltd. and Wayfarer Films Pvt. Ltd. Jhanu Chanthar composed the tunes for the film.
Bhagyashri Bose played the female lead. Samuthirakani and Rana Daggubati also starred in the pivotal roles.
Kaantha PlotSet in the vibrant and culturally rich Madras of the 1950s, Kaantha centres on Ayya, an acclaimed director, and his complex relationship with the popular actor T. K. Mahadevan—a star he helped shape.
Trouble brews when Mahadevan changes the title of a women-centric film from Shaantha to Kaantha to improve his public image.
As filming progresses, tensions rise further when a shocking murder occurs on set. Inspector Devaraj steps in to uncover the truth. Both Ayya and Mahadevan soon find themselves under suspicion.
What follows is a tense exploration of power, ego, loyalty, and the cost of ambition.
