Fans of Stephen King's IT have been eagerly awaiting the new episodes since the show's announcement, hoping to revisit the world of Pennywise the clown.
However, the makers have just increased the excitement among the fans with the announcement of IT: Welcome to Derry release date.
The prequel series to the well-known horror franchise IT is all set to premiere earlier than usual this week.
According to Deadline, IT: Welcome to Derry is set to arrive on HBO three days ahead of schedule to celebrate Halloween. The episode will premiere on October 31 at midnight instead of the Sunday night release.
This implies that the episode will be accessible to East Coast viewers at 3 a.m. ET on Friday. This early drop is a special release timed for Halloween, adding to the eerie atmosphere of the series.
The episode will premiere on HBO on November 2 at 9:00 p.m. ET. The show is anticipated to resume its regular rollout pattern, in which new episodes are released on Max every Sunday night prior to HBO airing, following this special Halloween schedule.
The prequel series will feature eight episodes, with the finale releasing on December 14.
What is IT: Welcome to Derry about?
The world that Andy Muschietti, Barbara Muschietti, and Jason Fuchs created for the two films will be expanded in the upcoming series. The director is also the showrunner and has directed some of the episodes of the series.
The trailer for IT: Welcome to Derry suggests that after Leroy and Charlotte Hanlon's time at the military base, they relocate to the town of Derry.
The official synopsis of the first episode's plot states, "Set in the world of Stephen King’s ‘IT’ universe, IT: WELCOME TO DERRY is based on King’s 'IT' novel and expands the vision established by filmmaker Andy Muschietti in the feature films 'IT' and ‘IT Chapter Two.’”
