Amruta Khanvikar is a celebrated name on the Marathi Rangmanch and for her, this action-thriller arrives at a moment when she is enjoying increased visibility on OTT, and a renewed sense of confidence about the choices she has made as an artist.

During an exclusive conversation with Moneycontrol, Amruta said she feels really special and grateful for all the work coming her way.

“It feels incredibly special and very affirming. When two very different projects release back-to-back, it reminds you that all the years of work, patience and belief have led to something beautiful. I feel grateful, excited, and more confident than ever about the choices I’ve made as an artist," she told Moneycontrol over phone as she was travelling in the interiors for the promotions of her play.

While Taskaree marks her most prominent action-led role on Hindi OTT so far, Amruta Khanvilkar says the genre did not feel alien or new to her.

Amruta is known for her dynamic screen presence and popular dance numbers in Marathi cinema, and sees action as a natural progression of her training.

“I’ve always loved challenging myself, and action felt like a natural extension of my dance training. It allowed me to explore my physical strength, stamina and focus in a new way. The experience was empowering, it showed me a new side of myself as a performer," she said.

She dived into doing action onscreen and revealed that there were injuries to both her and a stunt master.

“It was an intense moment, but it also showed me how strong teamwork on a set really is. Everyone came together with care and professionalism, and it reminded me how much trust and responsibility goes into action filmmaking. It made me even more respectful of the craft and the people behind it," she added.

Over the years, Amruta has built a strong body of work in the Marathi industry, balancing commercial cinema with performance-driven roles, while also becoming synonymous with high-energy, chart-topping songs. Amruta says she is thankful that right opportunities have come her way at the right time.

“Yes, because I wanted my career to grow with me. I’ve always believed that if you build yourself slowly and sincerely, opportunities come at the right time. Today, I feel ready for everything that’s opening up," she said.

Theatre is a space that she continues to actively engage with and feels it gives her and instant connect with the audience.

“Theatre gives me instant connection. Performing live across Maharashtra keeps me deeply grounded — it reminds me why I became an artist in the first place. Films and OTT reach millions, but theatre touches hearts right there in the moment," said Amruta.

"It allowed me to stay connected to my craft and my roots. Today, when opportunities come, I feel fully prepared to make the most of them," she further added.

OTT, visibility and the pressure question

As her work travels wider through streaming platforms and social media, Amruta Khanvilkar said she believes the attention has been actually energising rather than overwhelming.

“I feel motivated more than pressured. When people across platforms discover your work, it inspires you to keep growing and doing better. It’s a very exciting phase," says the actor was seen in the famous 'Apsara Aali' song from Marathi movie Natarang.

She also acknowledged that managing multiple projects can be demanding but says it is a part of their profession and its needs.

“I believe it’s different for everyone. I personally enjoy staying busy and working continuously, but at the same time, I make a conscious effort to take time out for myself and address other priorities. There are moments when managing multiple projects simultaneously becomes challenging, but that’s also what every actor hopes for, so I have no complaints.”

On the evolving OTT landscape, she says: “OTT has space for everyone and I think audiences naturally gravitate toward authenticity. Stories that feel real always find their place.”

With Taskaree expanding her range and audience base, Amruta Khanvilkar is now keen to push herself further.

"I’m open to everything that excites me. Action showed me a new dimension of myself, and now I’m even more curious to explore roles that are bold, layered and inspiring," she said.

Amruta Khanvilkar says Taskaree is not just a new genre milestone it is the culmination of years spent building craft across theatre, Marathi cinema and now Hindi OTT.
