  • Pal says his absence is by choice, not due to any issues
  • He would join only if offered a meaningful role on the show

Comedian Sunil Pal has once again spoken openly about fellow comedian Kapil Sharma and his popular programme, The Great Indian Kapil Show — and this time, his comments feel both affectionate and honest.

While Sunil Pal made it clear that he deeply admires Kapil Sharma, he also could not resist gently poking fun at the show’s format, even comparing it to a “langar” because of the sheer number of regular faces seen on it.

Speaking on a recent podcast with Meri Saheli, Sunil Pal addressed the long-standing curiosity around why he has never appeared on Kapil Sharma’s show, despite the two sharing mutual respect.

Setting the tone warmly, he said, “I don't have any issues with Kapil Sharma. In fact, I am a huge fan.”

Sunil Pal was generous in his praise for Kapil Sharma’s journey, acknowledging the hard work behind his success. “Kapil has been running his show for over 12 years now. He has been doing a great job and always ensures his friends grow as well. He is the highest-paid comedian in the world,” he said, clearly proud of what Kapil Sharma has achieved.

The show, now streaming on Netflix, has become a household name, but Sunil Pal explained that his absence is a personal choice rather than a professional snub. Recalling Kapil Sharma’s invitations, he shared, “Woh mujhe kayi baar bolta hai, mere set pe aaya karo, mila karo mujhse. Bahut pyaar karta hai, maanta hai mujhe. Lekin main kehta hoon woh mujhe maanta hai voh uski mahanta hai (In fact, he has invited me to his set multiple times. He often tells me, ‘Please do come here, visit us.' He loves me a lot. But I believe that is his greatness).”

However, Sunil Pal admitted that he would only consider appearing if there were a meaningful role for him. That is when he made his now-talked-about comparison: “Main tabhi jaaunga jab usko lagega Sunil Pal ke liye sach mein kaam hai. Varna uske yahan toh langar laga rehta hai. Aadha Punjab wahan par betha hai (I will only go to him when I feel he truly needs me. Otherwise, there is literally a langar on his show — half of Punjab is on it).”

The latest episode welcomed actors Madhuri Dixit and Jackie Shroff, continuing its tradition of high-profile guests.
