As Bridgerton Season 4 continues to captivate audiences worldwide, actor Luke Thompson—who essays the role of Benedict Bridgerton—has shared a personal detail that has struck a chord with Indian fans.
In a recent interaction, the actor revealed that his family has roots in India and that visiting the country is something he genuinely hopes to do.
Speaking about his heritage, Luke shared that his grandmother was Indian English. While he admitted that India hasn’t been a culturally dominant part of his upbringing, he acknowledged a deep curiosity about the connection.
In an interview with The Times of India, he said, “I’m very curious. It’s funny how genetics works. Because, as I say, it’s not a culturally big part of me, but then it sort of is, I guess – genetically. So yeah, I’d love to come and explore India and see what it’s like."
His candid admission has sparked excitement among viewers who see the global appeal of Bridgerton now coming full circle in a rather personal way.
In the same conversation, Thompson reflected on what makes Bridgerton resonate far beyond its opulent costumes and sweeping love stories. While the series is often celebrated for its glamour and romance, he believes its real strength lies in emotional depth.
He explained, “Yes, I guess it just digs down. What I love about the show is that, for something that starts off with the premise of a romance novel, which is often seen as a bit simplistic, it actually really delves into the complications of falling in love and of love generally. And I think that’s really cool that it does that."
It’s this layered storytelling that has helped the Netflix phenomenon sustain its popularity across seasons.
Thompson also spoke fondly about working with his younger co-stars, Florence Hunt, who plays Hyacinth Bridgerton, and Will Tilston, who portrays Gregory Bridgerton. He recalled having a wonderful time collaborating with them and remarked on how much they had grown up over the years—a reflection that mirrors the show’s own evolution.
In another interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Luke opened up about stepping into a more central role this season. Following the Season 4 finale, he acknowledged that while there was undeniable pressure in leading the narrative as Benedict, the filming process itself felt smooth and organic.
Season 4 finally places Benedict Bridgerton firmly in the spotlight. After seasons of resisting societal expectations and navigating complex relationships, his character now commands the emotional heart of the story.
Opposite him stands Sophie Baek, portrayed by Yerin Ha. Introduced as the enigmatic “woman in silver” at his mother’s masquerade, Sophie captures Benedict’s attention instantly, setting the stage for a romance filled with mystery and longing.
