Singer and actor Nick Jonas has opened up about one of the most vulnerable chapters of his life — the early months after welcoming his daughter Malti Marie, who was born prematurely.

Speaking with quiet honesty, Nick Jonas reflected on a period marked by fear, resilience and unwavering hope.

In a candid conversation on On Purpose with Jay Shetty, Nick Jonas shared how he and his wife, actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas, faced an uncertain road after Malti’s birth.

Weighing just one pound and 11 ounces, their daughter had to be resuscitated immediately, turning what should have been a joyful moment into months spent navigating hospital corridors and emotional exhaustion.

Recalling those days, Nick Jonas said the couple practically lived at the hospital, taking turns to be by Malti’s side.

“My wife and I would basically do 12-hour shifts at the hospital for three and a half months,” he shared, describing a time that tested them both physically and emotionally.

Despite the fragile start, Malti showed extraordinary strength from the very beginning. Nick Jonas spoke with pride about how she fought every single day in neonatal care, gradually gaining weight and responding to treatment.

“She fought every day for three and a half months and slowly started to gain some weight,” he said, adding that after six blood transfusions, Malti was finally strong enough to go home.

Now four years old, Malti continues to carry that resilience with her. According to her father, her early struggles have shaped the way she experiences the world.

“How she entered the world and what that first chapter of her life was like… every day is a gift,” Nick Jonas reflected, noting that her joy and curiosity feel especially meaningful.

That sense of gratitude was clearly visible last month as Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Nick Jonas marked Malti’s fourth birthday with a sun-soaked family holiday. Nick Jonas gave fans a glimpse into their peaceful celebration by sharing intimate moments from their Turks and Caicos getaway on Instagram.

Alongside candid photos, he wrote, “Grateful for some quality family time in paradise. Thank you to @airbnb for the perfect Turks and Caicos stay.”

The images captured tender family moments — Malti floating beside her father in the pool, her hand resting gently on his shoulder, while Priyanka wrapped Nick in a warm embrace.

Other photos showed Malti sitting quietly on her father’s lap as Nick photographed Priyanka in the water, along with snapshots of birthday cake, relaxed beach moments and personal travel memories.
