Nagarjuna to file another Rs 100 crore defamation lawsuit against Telangana political leader Konda Surekha

Nagarjuna Akkineni is pursuing another Rs 100 crore defamation lawsuit against Telangana political leader Konda Surekha, following her controversial comments about his family.

Surekha recently sparked a major uproar by claiming that Telangana Minister KT Rama Rao (KTR) interfered in the relationship between Naga Chaitanya and Samantha Ruth Prabhu, leading to their divorce.

These remarks led Nagarjuna to file a criminal defamation case, and now he has taken further legal action with a hefty defamation lawsuit.

Speaking to Times Now, Nagarjuna expressed his frustration with the situation. “We filed a criminal defamation case yesterday. We are in the process of filing another Rs 100-crore defamation lawsuit against her. Her outrageous comments cannot be allowed to slide under the crack. She now says she is withdrawing her remarks. She has apparently apologised to Samantha. What about my family? Not a word of apology to me and to my family!” he added, making it evident that the damage went far beyond a simple apology.

When asked whether an apology from Surekha would lead to the withdrawal of the lawsuit, Nagarjuna firmly responded, “No. Not at all. This is no longer personal. The slander has gone far beyond just me and my family. The support we’ve received from the biggest to the smallest of names in the Telugu industry has made me realise we are in the process of stemming the rot that has seeped into the core of our system. You can’t use our names for political gains. We in the entertainment industry won’t be soft targets anymore. It’s as simple as that. I am hoping that our legal action against the lady will caution other politicians from using our names in a slanderous way."

For those unfamiliar with the controversy, Konda Surekha claimed that KTR played a significant role in the separation of Naga Chaitanya and Samantha. According to her, KTR demanded that Samantha be sent to him in exchange for sparing Nagarjuna's N-Convention Centre from demolition.

She alleged that when Samantha refused, it led to her divorce. Surekha has since retracted her statement, but the damage was already done, leading to legal action from both KTR and Nagarjuna.

The scandal has shaken the Telugu film industry, with prominent stars like Allu Arjun, Chiranjeevi, and Nani voicing their support for the Akkineni family and Samantha.
