Lanachella: Lana Del Rey’s second week Coachella performance solidified her as a once-in-a-century artist

Lana Del Rey headlined the biggest music festival, Coachella, yesterday. Her performance was sultry and soft. Right from her entry on a motorbike, sitting behind a handsome older man, to her exit. It felt like a nostalgic salute to her 'Ultraviolence’ era.

She used Coachella to kickstart the era of her new country album, Lasso, by wearing a leather dress and cowboy boots. Del Rey brought her song, ‘Black Beauty’, alive on the second week of Coachella. Like a siren, she sung The Great Gatsby track with a black wedding veil over her face. A testament to her musical drama film, ‘Tropico’.

Lana Del Rey also invited Camila Cabello to join her for her set. They performed the artist’s latest single ‘I Luv It’  in an energetic and captivating performance. Together, they gave an engaging performance with Cabello delivering an exhilarating choreography.

“This is my girl. I have so much fun with her. I love this song to death. Thank you so much, angel, for coming to sing with me.” Del Rey said after Cabello and her closed the song.

The Lana Del Rey fandom has been on cloud nine since her first Coachella performance where she brought Billie Eilish and Jon Batiste on the stage.

However, not everyone is amazed by her performances.

“Unfortunately, her signature laconic delivery just didn't work for such a big stage, and came off as unprepared rather than unbothered.” The Guardian wrote in their article on Lanachella.

A lot of fans came to the “Summertime Sadness” songstress’ defence saying that not all artists need to have a danceable discography.

Many people are also unhappy with her and the organisers of Coachella because there are many rumours of her being a Zionist. People think that it wasn’t the best time to give her one of the biggest stages in the midst of the Israel-Gaza war.
