Oscar-winning music composer AR Rahman is currently entangled in a controversy following his alleged ‘communal’ remark. However, the singer seems to have sparked another criticism on social media.

A video is swirling around the internet, accusing AR Rahman of plagiarising a popular tune from a Hollywood album.

According to the social media post, AR Rahman’s song Pudhu Vellai Mazhai from the 1992 film Roza is very similar to Quiet Man by Yanni, which was released in 1989.

AR Rahman’s Tamil song was a huge hit in India when it was released and is now considered a classic. However, it has changed the fans’ opinion about the singer. Several social media users took to the comment section and called him out over the alleged plagiarism.

One person wrote, “How are people waking up to this after decades? We considered him a maestro.” Another commented, “Check Micheal Jackson Bad album and Jeans of A R Rahman.” A third person wrote, “After internet became the norm everybody knew he's a copycat has been always will be…”

However, this is not the first time that AR Rahman accused of plagiarising a song. Recently, filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma made some serious accusations against Rahman.

The filmmaker claimed that Rahman didn’t compose the Oscar-winning song Jai Ho.

A throwback video of the filmmaker recently went viral on social media in which RGV is heard recalling, “Rahman was doing a film called Yuvraj for Subhash Ghai and Rahman is always late, it frustrates you not being on time.”

RGV added, “On this day, Rahman was arriving from airport and Sukhwinder was there, doing something, Rahman came and said hi hi and asked Sukhwinder right in front of Suubhash Ghai, "did you compose?" Sukhwinder said yes, played a song and Rahman said he liked it and asked if Subhash liked it. Subhash got angry and started shoutimg at Rahman sayoing' I'm paying you 3 crores for you to do it... i also can get Sukhwinder to do it, why do i need you?"

Ram Gopal Varma recalled that A. R. Rahman remained composed and firmly emphasised the value of his name and artistic vision over immediate results. Rahman reportedly clarified his stance, left for Chennai, later asked Sukhwinder to complete the song, and eventually shared the earnings when the track, “Jai Ho,” was sold for Slumdog Millionaire.
