Bollywood actress Mrunal Thakur has always worn her love for Maharashtrian culture on her sleeve, and once again, it is her deep emotional bond with home food and family that has struck a chord with fans.

In a candid and light-hearted moment, Mrunal was heard telling her mother, “Bas ho gaya pasta, pizza, Japanese and Thai. Mummy, ghari gelyavar chicken curry, rice ani tamda rassa banavshil na.” The line, equal parts funny and heartfelt, perfectly captures what the actor has often spoken about in interviews. No matter how global her palate becomes due to work and travel, her comfort food remains firmly rooted in Maharashtra.

Mrunal has repeatedly admitted that she has a soft corner for traditional Maharashtrian dishes, especially puran poli. So strong is the temptation that she once revealed she prefers to stay away from the kitchen when puran poli is being prepared, jokingly saying she needs “distance for self-control.”

Along with puran poli, her favourites include poha, misal pav, varan-bhaat, chicken curry with rice, and spicy tamda rassa.

Over the years, she has appeared in several interviews and food-based videos where she speaks passionately about these dishes, reflecting an emotional connection that goes beyond taste and into memory, family, and identity.

Despite her busy shooting schedules across Hindi and South Indian cinema, Mrunal has managed to hold on to these roots. Friends and colleagues often describe her as someone who carries “ghar ka khana” nostalgia wherever she goes, and her fans relate strongly to this balance between modern, global living and cultural grounding.

Recently, Mrunal also gave fans a glimpse into her softer, family-oriented side during her vacation in the Philippines. The trip, which included family members and close friends, was filled with relaxed moments, scenic beaches, and unfiltered joy. Photos and videos from the holiday showed the actor away from sets and red carpets, soaking in the sun, enjoying local sights, and spending quality time with loved ones.
