In a recent interview, veteran actor Govind Namdev shed light on the work ethics and personalities of two of Bollywood's biggest superstars, Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan. Reflecting on his experiences on various film sets, Namdev shared intriguing anecdotes that reveal the contrasting approaches of these actors to their craft and on-set interactions.
Govind Namdev, who has worked with Shah Rukh Khan on multiple occasions, described him as the epitome of a workaholic. Namdev recalled the shooting of the 2000 drama Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani, where Shah Rukh's dedication to his work was evident. According to Namdev, Shah Rukh would often work long hours, mingling with the crew and dining with the cast before excusing himself for the night to prepare for the next day's shoot. His routine often extended late into the night, sometimes until 2 AM, and he would sleep for only about four hours before resuming his duties the next day.
Namdev emphasised Shah Rukh's relentless commitment, noting how he balanced his roles as both actor and producer. "I had heard a lot about workaholics, but I saw it for the first time when I worked with Shah Rukh Khan," Namdev mentioned. Despite his busy schedule, Shah Rukh never compromised on his professional responsibilities, always pushing himself to do more. "Kaam mein dhuni hai woh. He will smoke like a chimney and keep working, keep thinking about what to do next," Namdev added
In contrast, Namdev's experience with Salman Khan on the set of Wanted was markedly different. Salman, known for his larger-than-life persona, maintained a more reserved demeanour on set. Namdev described Salman as someone who did not interact much with the cast and crew. "He doesn’t interact much, sirf kaam se kaam. There was no personal talk at all," Namdev stated.
Namdev elaborated on Salman's minimalistic approach to conversations, sharing that the superstar rarely engaged in personal discussions. The extent of their interactions was limited to occasional remarks about Salman's childhood experiences, particularly anecdotes involving his father, Salim Khan. Despite this reserved nature, Salman maintained professionalism and dedication to his work, focusing solely on his responsibilities on set.
These insights from Govind Namdev offer a fascinating glimpse into the working styles of Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan. Shah Rukh's boundless energy and relentless pursuit of excellence set him apart as a consummate professional, while Salman's focused and reserved demeanour reflect a different but equally effective approach to his craft.
