Maddock Films is currently enjoying significant success with its recent horror-comedy hits, including the latest release, Thamma, and the highly anticipated Stree 2.

Both films have successfully cemented the studio's presence in the supernatural-comedy genre. Building on this momentum, Maddock Films founder and producer, Dinesh Vijan, has announced an ambitious, long-term plan to significantly expand the studio's horror-comedy universe.

Vijan has confirmed that a slate of seven new films is currently in development and is scheduled to be released over the next five years.

Speaking at a recent awards ceremony, Vijan elaborated on his production strategy and stated, "The sweet spot is three to four films over a few years," he stated. He emphasized that the primary goal is to establish lasting intellectual properties rather than merely pursuing fleeting short-term box office trends.

Vijan also discussed the state of the film industry today, pointing out that rival movie studios aren't the main rival these days—rather, smartphones are. Traditional movie consumption is now challenged as the device has drawn viewers' attention to short-form content.

This change has forced Maddock Films to take a flexible, platform-neutral stance, making sure their stories are flexible enough to work well in theatres, on streaming services, and on mobile devices.

While many large-scale theatrical releases have struggled recently, Maddock’s unique slate—often drawing from cultural narratives and rich folklore—has managed to maintain a dedicated and consistent audience. Vijan credits this success to the studio’s commitment to selecting distinct and original stories over projects driven by predictable formulas.

Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, and Paresh Rawal star in Maddock Films' latest commercial hit, Thamma, which is still doing well in theatres. At the Indian box office, the movie has already brought in over Rs 134 crore, continuing the studio's remarkable run of hit releases.

Beyond the horror-comedy genre, one key title on Maddock’s upcoming production schedule is Ikkis. Directed by Sriram Raghavan, the film stars Agastya Nanda as the lead and is based on the life of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, the youngest ever recipient of the Param Vir Chakra, India's highest military decoration.
