Marathi actress and Fandry fame Rajeshwari Kharat accepts Christianity on Easter, fans share their disappointment

Rajeshwari Kharat, who became popular for her role as ‘Shalu’ in the Marathi film Fandry, is once again in the news. This time, it’s not for a film but for a personal decision that has surprised many of her fans.

On the occasion of Easter 2025, Rajeshwari posted pictures on Instagram where she is seen praying while standing in water. She wrote in the caption, “Baptised” along with a heart emoji. Baptism is a Christian ritual that marks the acceptance of the Christian faith. Her post clearly indicates that she has now embraced Christianity.

Along with this photo, she also shared another group picture and wrote, “God has plans for you, which I know.” She also mentioned that this is a new beginning in her life and that she has accepted the Christian faith.

Rajeshwari became a household name after her role in Fandry, directed by Nagraj Manjule. She was loved by audiences for her simplicity and natural acting. Even after the film, she remained in the limelight through her glamorous photoshoots and upcoming projects.

However, her recent post has led to mixed reactions. While some fans have supported her decision, many have expressed disappointment and anger. Several people are upset about her change in religion and have shared their views on social media.

Despite the backlash, Rajeshwari seems confident and peaceful in her decision. Her posts show that she is happy with the path she has chosen and wants to move forward with her faith.

Fandry is a critically acclaimed Marathi film directed by Nagraj Manjule. Released in 2013, the film tells the story of Jabya, a young boy from a lower-caste family, who dreams of love and dignity while facing harsh caste discrimination in rural Maharashtra. The title “Fandry” means pig, symbolizing the social stigma faced by the boy’s community. The film highlights the cruelty of untouchability, the struggles of the oppressed, and the desire for acceptance and equality. With powerful performances and a hard-hitting storyline, Fandry received several national and international awards, making it a landmark in Indian parallel cinema.
