South Korean actor and singer Rowoon, who is currently serving his mandatory military duty, is set to appear as the new storyteller for the Defense Ministry’s content series These Days in the Military. His appointment comes after videos featuring singer-actor Cha Eun-woo, who was initially chosen as the storyteller, were taken down following tax evasion allegations.
According to a report by The Korea Times, Rowoon has confirmed his participation in the series on the Defense Media Agency’s channel, KFN Plus, and is preparing to begin filming.
These Days in the Military is designed as an informative and engaging series in which celebrities currently serving in the armed forces take on the role of storytellers.
They introduce viewers to significant historical events and notable figures connected to the military. The program has previously attracted attention for featuring stars such as Song Kang and Taeyong of NCT.
Cha Eun-woo had joined the show last year and appeared in four episodes. However, after allegations of tax evasion surfaced, all content featuring him was removed from public access. The episodes in which he appeared have since been set to private, with viewers now encountering the message “This video is unavailable” within the program’s playlist.
Rowoon enlisted in the South Korean Army on October 27 last year. His enlistment had originally been scheduled for July 21, but he received a Grade 7 decision during his initial medical evaluation, requiring a reexamination. After filing an appeal and undergoing another assessment, he was ultimately deemed fit for active duty service.
Following the completion of his basic training, updates about his military life were shared via the social media account “RowoonCine,” operated by his agency FNC Entertainment. The post included photographs of him in uniform along with the caption “Private Kim Seok-woo,” referencing his real name.

Rowoon first debuted in 2016 as a member of the K-pop group SF9. He later established himself as a sought-after actor through a string of popular dramas, including School 2017 (2017), Extraordinary You (2019), The King's Affection (2021), Tomorrow (2022) and The Matchmakers (2023).
As he continues his military service, Rowoon’s participation in the Defense Ministry series marks a new chapter, blending his public presence with his duties in uniform.
