Korean actor Park Seo-joon, popularly known for shows like What's Wrong with Secretary Kim and Itaewon Class, has recently opened up about his love life and goals in life.
As reported by The Korea Times, On Thursday, Park reflected on his journey during an interview with Hankook Ilbo. He said, “I’ve only looked forward while running this race, and I’m grateful and fortunate to have come this far with such positive reviews."
The actor added, “Trends shift. Environments change. All at warp speed. No one knows what’s next, and I often hear we’re in a constant transition. I’m just thankful to still be working amid all this. The fact that I can keep acting makes me feel even more responsible.”
The 40-year-old actor also reflected on his career, describing it as a relentless sprint. He mentioned that one day he had compared his filmography with those of actors his age and noticed that he had worked on an unusually large number of projects. While he was grateful for the opportunities that came his way, he admitted that feeling burned out had become inevitable.
Park also admitted that he felt like he was working too much without taking a break which eventually made him realize that he was too tired.
“I felt like I knew too much, and while I wanted to do something raw and unfiltered, I wondered if I was becoming stagnant. That’s when burnout hit. I decided I needed to rest boldly. My body was tired, so I sometimes sought comfort in drinking,” he said. “The lines Gyeong-do says to Ji-woo felt like they were spoken to me. I deeply understood the line, ‘I tried running, I tried walking, I tried everything and it didn’t work, so I drank.’”
Shedding light on his love life and marriage plans, he further stated, “I definitely want to get married in my 40s. If I don’t do it then, I think I’ll end up living alone. I hope this drama (Surely Tomorrow) gives viewers a chance to rethink the meaning of love in their own lives. Whether it’s family, friends or a partner, I think the most important thing is being there for them. Love is letting them know you’re always by their side and becoming someone with whom they can share all emotions.”
Park is currently starring the JTBC K-Drama Surely Tomorrow.
