
Pop music critic Kim Young-dae passed away on Wednesday at the age of 48. The social media handle of the music critic confirmed his death on Thursday morning.
The statement reads, “We regret to inform you of the passing of Kim Young-dae. We ask for your understanding regarding our inability to contact everyone individually.”
However, Kim Young-dae’s official cause of death is yet to be disclosed.
He was active on social media and involved in a pre-recording of Kim Hyun-jung's News Show on CBS Radio. Many people are surprised by the unexpected news.
On YouTube, the production staff of Kim Hyun-jung's News Show, which included his section that day, sent their condolences.
They stated, “This episode was recorded last week. After airing on the 25th, we learned of the passing of music critic Kim Young-dae. We are deeply saddened by this unexpected news. The production team offers our deepest condolences.”
Visitors were welcomed starting at 10 a.m. at Chung-Ang University Hospital's Room 6, where his funeral hall has been set up. On the 27th, a funeral liturgy will be held in a restaurant in Heukseok-dong at 10 a.m., and the burial will take place that same day at 11 a.m. Seoul Memorial Park will serve as the last resting place, with interment taking place at the Peace Rest Area.

For the unversed, Kim received a doctorate in ethnomusicology from the University of Washington in the United States after graduating from Yonsei University with a degree in business administration. He wrote a great deal about popular music and the K-pop industry.
Additionally, he interacted with viewers on other platforms, such as his YouTube site, "School of Music," and presented Korean television broadcasts of significant U.S. music award ceremonies, including the Grammy Awards, American Music Awards, and Billboard Music Awards.
