Catholic influencer and content creator Paul J. Kim is mourning the heartbreaking loss of his 5-year-old son, Micah, who died on December 31, 2025 after a prolonged and severe battle with complications from the flu.

Kim shared the devastating news with his more than 300,000 followers via an emotional Instagram video on January 1, 2026, saying the young boy passed away after fighting for his life for more than 11 days.

Micah was first rushed to the hospital on December 21 following a sudden medical emergency triggered by what was described as an unusually aggressive case of influenza. His condition rapidly worsened, leading to sepsis, seizures, and internal complications that required him to be placed on life support. Despite emergency surgery to address internal bleeding and intensive care efforts, doctors ultimately found no medical possibility of recovery after tests indicated severe brain damage.

In his tearful announcement, Kim expressed profound grief and gratitude for the enormous outpouring of prayers and support his family received from around the world.

“After fighting 11 long, hard days, Micah went home to the house of our Father,” Kim said, describing the loss as the hardest moment of his life while also expressing pride in his son’s courageous fight. He asked for privacy for his family as they grieve, saying that Micah’s brief life had already touched countless people and drawn generations of followers closer to faith.

In his post, he wrote, “The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.” Job 1:21. Micah Joseph is beginning the new year basking in the never ending glory, love, and peace of God. Micah has been very busy already, as I see the Lord using him and sending him on missions to bring millions of people closer to God. We are surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses (Heb 12:1) that my son is now a part of. I couldn’t be a prouder father. This reality gives me great joy and hope in the midst of sorrow. Our hearts are broken; but we trust in the Lord. Please pray for my family and me as we learn how to live by faith and not by sight.”

He added, “Thank you for all the love, prayers, and compassion that a countless number of you have showed us. May God truly bless you. Your prayers for Micah were answered, but in a different way than what we had all hoped for. God healed and welcomed him into eternal life. He is where we all want to be. Micah Joseph Kim, pray for us.”

Many of his followers and fellow believers have continued to offer condolences, prayers, and support in the wake of this deeply emotional loss.
