BTS has officially announced its long-awaited group comeback, putting an end to a nearly four-year hiatus. BIGHIT Music confirmed that the group’s new album will be released on March 20, marking BTS’ first full-length project as a complete seven-member lineup since 2022.

The upcoming release holds special significance for both the band and its massive global fandom, ARMY. It will be BTS’ first group album in three years and nine months, following their anthology album Proof, which was released in June 2022. Since then, the group had stepped back from collective activities as members fulfilled South Korea’s mandatory military service while also focusing on individual musical ventures.

All seven members have now completed their enlistment, with rapper and producer Suga being the last to be discharged on June 21, 2025. With military obligations officially behind them, BTS’ return signals a new chapter for the group.

Interestingly, BTS chose a deeply personal way to break the news to their fans. To ring in the new year, the members sent printed copies of handwritten letters to ARMY members who have maintained a WeVerse membership for the past three years. The letters subtly revealed the comeback date, featuring the line “March 20, 2026,” alongside heartfelt messages expressing gratitude and anticipation.

Soon after fans began sharing images and reactions online, BIGHIT Music released an official statement confirming the album’s release date.

The letters themselves offered an emotional glimpse into how much the comeback means to the group. Leader RM wrote that he had been “waiting for (this comeback) more than anyone else.” Jimin and j-hope echoed similar sentiments, calling 2026 “the year we finally meet again.”

Jin reflected on his journey over the last two years, writing, “I’ve greeted you as a solo artist over the past two years and now I finally get to greet you again as part of the team.” Jungkook reassured fans of his unwavering dedication, saying, “My heart has always been the same. I’ll keep doing my best, just as I always have.”

V looked ahead to the future with optimism, telling ARMY, “In 2026, we’ll make even more and even better memories together, so please look forward to it.” Suga, in his characteristically understated style, closed his message with, “Let’s have a joyful year together.”

Following the album’s release in March, BTS is also set to embark on a world tour. While details regarding the album’s concept, tracklist, and promotional schedule remain under wraps, BIGHIT Music confirmed that more information will be shared in the coming weeks.
