Jisoo is stepping into an exciting new phase of her career with her first-ever romantic comedy, Boyfriend on Demand.

The BLACKPINK star, who continues to expand her artistic footprint beyond music, recently reflected on her evolving acting journey and shared heartfelt advice for young women — including her massive fanbase in India — about daring to pursue what they truly want.

In a conversation with Hindustan Times, Jisoo delivered a message that felt both personal and empowering.

Addressing women across age groups, she said, “I feel like there are many women out there, whether they’re my age or younger, or my friends, who find themselves almost being stuck in a particular role or mindset where you kind of create these stern rules for yourself. You try to think about it in a way where you know, this is something you can do. This is something that you should never do."

Her words reflect the very transition she is currently navigating. Known globally as a member of BLACKPINK, Jisoo has built a formidable presence in music. However, taking on a romantic comedy marks a genre shift and signals a bold new chapter.

Encouraging fans to embrace discomfort and growth, she added, “When you are taking on a new challenge, don’t be afraid. Try to break out of your shell and take it head on. I hope that this show will give you the confidence to do that and enjoy it and allow you to grow from it."

In the Netflix series, Jisoo plays Mi Rae, a webtoon producer who is overworked. She turns to a virtual dating simulation service to find the romance she craves. The storyline cleverly connects technology and emotion, showing how digital spaces can reflect real-world desires and insecurities.

This role follows her acting debut in Snowdrop in 2021, along with projects such as Newtopia and the film Omnipresent Reader: The Prophecy. With each performance, she has steadily carved out her identity as a credible actor while continuing to dominate the music industry.
