BLACKPINK’s Jennie is showing a bold, new side of herself — and fans are loving it.
The global K-pop star has debuted a striking haircut that’s a sharp departure from her usual style, in a recent feature for U.S. fashion magazine V Magazine.
Many are saying the look highlights a more confident, mature version of the singer who has captured hearts worldwide.
The photos, released on Wednesday (local time), showcase Jennie with her long, straight hair transformed into a sleek, short style.
The change brings a sense of sophistication and poise, giving her a fresh, modern energy. In one standout image, she wears a black-and-white halter-neck top paired with oversized hoop earrings, combining edgy street style with high-fashion elegance — a stark contrast to the softer visuals fans might expect.
As per The Korea Times, in the accompanying interview, Jennie Kim spoke honestly about her focus as an artist. She’s set to perform in Tokyo around her birthday week and reflected on her journey: “I can’t believe I’m still saying this. Because it’s something I said a year ago before my first album 'Ruby,' but I feel like a baby stepping into the world.”
When asked about turning 30, Jennie Kim laughed: “You’re not allowed to say that.” Yet she’s clearly looking forward to what’s next: “I just can’t wait for this new chapter of mine to open, not because I’m entering my 30s, but because there are just so many exciting things that I’ve planned ahead. I feel like I lived my 20s with passion and love.”
She also reflected on the sense of “home” that comes from her work. “Getting to look at my own dedication to something that I made and whatever is being shared with the world, and if I feel proud of it, if I feel like it’s mine, that’s the moment where I’m like, you know, ‘I’m doing great, and I feel like my life’s good,’” she said.
Speaking about BLACKPINK, Jennie Kim added, “Being able to bring different music into our sets and watching each other’s performances from a new perspective was a new thing for us, which made it more fun. Overall, being back on stage with all of us together felt very much like home.”
Outside music, she’s also preparing for her first photography exhibition, J2NNI5, opening at Youthquake in Seoul’s Jongno District from 16–29 January.
