Kareena Kapoor Khan discusses her latest film: 'I think The Buckingham Murders is a very brave film'

At a recent event, Kareena shared her thoughts on the film's brave approach. “I think The Buckingham Murders is a very brave film because it stays true to its ethnicity and authenticity,” she said. “We aimed to shoot in a small town in England to reflect the story accurately, and Hansal Mehta’s vision required us to embrace a blend of Hindi and English—an Hinglish approach—rather than having locals speak only in Hindi. I felt it was the right time, after 25 years in the industry, to experiment with something different. I’ve always tried to do that with films like Chameli and Dev early in my career.”

Since its release on September 13, 2024, The Buckingham Murders has garnered impressive reviews and ratings from both audiences and critics. Despite featuring Hinglish dialogue, the film's unique appeal as a mystery thriller has resonated with a niche audience, contributing to its strong box office performance. The film represents a bold collaboration between Kareena Kapoor Khan, who has ventured into intense suspense drama for the first time; director Hansal Mehta, who has achieved a career-best opener with this project; and producer Ektaa R Kapoor, who took a significant risk in backing this engaging thriller.
