At the News18 Rising Bharat Summit 2026, Kangana Ranaut did what she does best. She stirred the pot, smiled at the camera, and left everyone guessing.
The actress confirmed that she is currently considering a few Hollywood projects, finally addressing months of speculation around her reported international debut. “I have some offers, lekin, depending on my time and inclination, we’ll take a call,” Kangana said at the summit, making it clear that nothing has been finalised yet.
Her statement comes amid ongoing chatter about Blessed Be the Evil, a horror drama that was earlier reported as her big Hollywood entry. According to previous reports, the film revolved around a Christian couple who, after suffering a devastating miscarriage, move into an abandoned farm with a dark and sinister past. Kangana was said to be playing the lead. However, there were no updates about the shoot, no official announcements from the makers, and no confirmation from the actress herself. The silence led many to believe that the project may have stalled or that Kangana had exited it.
Now, while she has acknowledged receiving “some offers,” she did not clarify whether Blessed Be the Evil is still on the table.
What makes this development particularly interesting is Kangana’s past stance on Hollywood and Western cinema. In 2021, during promotions for Thalaivii, she had taken a strong position on the growing dominance of American and English films in India. At a press conference, she said, “We need to discourage American and English movies as they are taking over our screens. We need to behave like one nation. We need to stop dividing ourselves like North India or South India. We need to enjoy our own films first, be it Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu or Punjabi.”
Even earlier, in 2017, she had expressed skepticism about moving West. In an interview with Mid-Day, Kangana had remarked, “It would be stupid for anyone to make the move to the West now. Their theatre business is crashing because of the influx of digital media. Asia, on the other hand, is where Hollywood was 15 years ago. It is a lucrative time for entertainment here. These are baits that I won’t fall prey to.”
That comment had come shortly after Priyanka Chopra began building her career in the United States.
Given those earlier remarks, Kangana’s latest admission has sparked curiosity. Is this a shift in perspective, or simply a strategic career move?
If she does go ahead, Kangana would join a growing list of Indian actors who have made a mark internationally, including Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone, Irrfan, Anil Kapoor and Anupam Kher.
