During the Vedaa trailer launch, Bollywood actor John Abraham had a rather heated exchange with a journalist that has since made headlines. Known for his strong presence both on and off the screen, John did not hold back when questioned about his choice of roles.
The incident occurred during the Q-and-A session at the event, which saw John Abraham, along with co-stars Sharvari, Abhishek Banerjee, and director Nikkhil Advani, among others, addressing the media. When a journalist bluntly asked John if he felt he was becoming repetitive in the action genre, John’s response was swift and sharp.
John, visibly serious, retorted, “Have you seen the film? Can I call out bad questions as idiots?” His counter-question highlighted his frustration with the repetitive nature of such queries, hinting at a lack of depth in the journalist’s line of questioning. This statement quickly set the tone for the rest of his responses, indicating that he was not going to entertain what he perceived as unthoughtful or lazy questions.

He continued to defend his work in Vedaa, asserting, “I want to directly tell you that this film is different. In my opinion, I have delivered a very intense performance in Vedaa. You haven’t seen the film. Toh film dekhiye aap. Then you can judge. I’ll be all yours.” This declaration underscored his belief in his work and his frustration with being prematurely judged.
Adding a lighter note, John joked, “But if you are wrong, I am going to turn you around and tear you apart (laughs)!” This blend of humor and assertiveness reflected his confidence in the film and his readiness to stand by his artistic choices.
John also took the opportunity to clarify the genre of Vedaa, stating, “This is actually not an action film. Vedaa is a very emotional film. Even now, I get moved when I see the film on the edit. I get tears in my eyes. It’s beautiful!” This revelation was significant as it positioned Vedaa differently from his previous roles, highlighting the emotional depth of the film and his performance.
In his opening speech, John emphasized the importance of a film’s quality over its marketing. He said, “I don’t know if I am politically correct in saying this but aap film ko kitna bhi market karo, uska kuch fayda nahin agar aapki film kharab hai. I say this on record that Vedaa is a damn good film. We’ll see on August 15 what does Vedaa with its word of mouth.” This candid statement reflected his belief in the intrinsic value of good cinema, irrespective of the promotional efforts.
The Vedaa trailer launch event thus became a platform for John Abraham not only to promote his upcoming film but also to address the broader issues surrounding the media’s approach to questioning and the perception of his career choices. His responses highlighted his commitment to his craft and his belief in the film’s unique qualities.
