Shoojit Sircar's latest film, I Want To Talk, featuring Abhishek Bachchan in the lead role, hit theaters this Friday but opened to a modest response.
As per Sacnilk, the film earned Rs 25 lakh nett in India on the first day of its release on November 22.
The opening day occupancy for I Want To Talk saw varied numbers across time slots, with morning shows recording 5.60% attendance, afternoon shows slightly improving to 8.95%, evening shows dropping to 4.44%, and night shows peaking at 10.78%.
I Want To Talk follows the emotional journey of a terminally ill father who learns he has just 100 days to live. As he faces the prospect of a life-changing surgery, he grapples with the challenges of a complicated relationship with his daughter. The film stars Abhishek Bachchan in the lead role, alongside Johny Lever, Ahilya Bamroo, Banita Sandhu, and Pearle Maaney in significant roles.
According to Money Control's review of I Want To Talk, "As for the humour in the film, Arjun cracks plenty of jokes, all of which are very Phil Dunphy-coded. Some of my favourite ones being: "I am the brand ambassador of the Mushroom Council of the world, they call me Fun-gi" and "When two Sens are talking to each other, butting in between is in'sen'sitive". In another scene, after having 80% of his stomach removed, Arjun says “I am officially a gutless man”. Sharp writing, witty humour and emotional gutpunches make Shoojit Sircar's film a phenomenal tale of survival, grit and perseverance. Dialogue by Ritesh Shah will have you smiling through tears. I Want To Talk is as much a father-daughter story as it is a heroic tale of survival."
