Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR’s War 2 reportedly earned Rs 85–100 crore in pre-release: Report

The upcoming action thriller "War 2," starring Bollywood superstar Hrithik Roshan and Telugu cinema titan Jr NTR, has already generated significant financial buzz, reportedly securing a staggering Rs 85–100 crore for its Telugu theatrical rights a full three months before its scheduled release on August 14, 2025.

This impressive pre-release earning underscores the immense anticipation surrounding the film, particularly in the Telugu-speaking regions.

According to a report by 123Telugu, the hefty price tag for the Telugu distribution rights is primarily attributed to the formidable presence of Jr NTR in the movie.

The actor, a massive draw in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, commands a huge fan following and boasts a proven track record of delivering blockbuster hits. His inclusion in "War 2" has undoubtedly piqued the interest of Telugu-speaking audiences and distributors alike, driving up the demand and consequently, the price for the rights.

The report further indicates that prominent Tollywood producers Naga Vamsi and Suniel Narang were actively vying for the Telugu rights, eventually securing the lucrative deal. Their involvement highlights the commercial viability and potential box office success that "War 2" is expected to achieve in the Telugu market, largely due to Jr NTR's star power.

While Hrithik Roshan reprises his role as the charismatic spy Kabir from the first "War" film, Jr NTR is set to portray the antagonist, adding an exciting new dynamic to the narrative. This face-off between two of Indian cinema's biggest action heroes is a major draw for audiences across the country, and the early financial success in the Telugu market is a testament to this widespread anticipation. Adding to the star power is Kiara Advani, who will be seen as the leading lady in the film.

This pre-release financial achievement for "War 2" in the Telugu market mirrors the trend of pan-Indian films garnering substantial earnings from various regional distribution rights even before their theatrical debut. The increasing crossover appeal of stars and the growing acceptance of multilingual films have created a landscape where a film's potential is evaluated and monetized across different linguistic territories well in advance.

For Hrithik Roshan, "War 2" marks his return to the silver screen a year after his action-thriller "Fighter" (2024). Beyond "War 2," he is also slated to direct and star in "Krrish 4," a highly anticipated installment in his popular superhero franchise, which will reportedly feature cameo appearances from Alia Bhatt and Sharvari Wagh.

Meanwhile, Jr NTR has also commenced work on his next project with acclaimed director Prashanth Neel, further solidifying his position as one of the leading forces in Indian cinema. The early financial success of "War 2" in the Telugu region serves as a strong indicator of the film's potential to be a major box office success across India when it finally hits the screens in August 2025.
