The official trailer of The Bluff, starring Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Karl Urban, dropped on Wednesday and quickly caught the attention of fans across the globe.
Released by Prime Video on its YouTube channel, the two-minute-plus trailer offers a gritty, emotionally charged look at a story driven by survival, vengeance and a mother’s fierce instinct to protect her child.
From the very first moments, the trailer places Priyanka Chopra Jonas at the centre of the action. Her character is seen desperately trying to keep her daughter safe as they are hunted by a group of men led by Karl Urban.
What unfolds is raw and relentless. Priyanka fights back with whatever she can find — her bare hands, knives, stones and even a sword — making it clear that she is not someone to be underestimated. Interspersed with the violence are quieter, dramatic moments that hint at a painful past catching up with her.
In The Bluff, Priyanka Chopra Jonas takes on the role of a former pirate whose past refuses to stay buried. Sporting a rugged, intense look, she portrays a woman shaped by loss and hardship.
Her character, ominously known as “Bloody Mary”, is shown battling enemies both external and internal, all while holding on to her role as a mother. The performance marks another strong step in Priyanka’s journey in international cinema, particularly in action-heavy roles.
Unsurprisingly, fans were quick to express their excitement and admiration online. One comment read, "Finally Priyanka is getting her due in the west. Can't wait, queen. This trailer looks so promising!"
Another fan wrote, "Let's just take a pause for Priyanka Chopra's wonderful action. She deserves an Oscar for the acting." A third added, "Everything looks stunning… but my eyes refuse to look anywhere else but you @priyankachopra. Brave. Powerful. A true warrior. An absolute alpha." One user even declared, "Priyanka, you are better than Karl Urban."
The film also features Temuera Morrison in a key role. Backed by Amazon MGM Studios, The Bluff is directed by Frank E Flowers and co-written by Frank E Flowers and Joe Ballarini, with production handled by the Russo Brothers under their AGBO banner. The film is set to premiere on Prime Video on 25 February.
Speaking to Variety, Priyanka Chopra Jonas shared that the film aims for a more realistic depiction of pirates. "We are making an attempt to show what it was actually like to be a pirate in the 1700s, rather than recreating Pirates of the Caribbean," she said, adding that researching real-life pirate Grace O'Malley and the diverse history of the Cayman Islands made the project especially compelling.
