Taylor Swift has done it again — and this time, she’s made history. Her brand-new album, The Life of a Showgirl, has become a global sensation overnight, selling a staggering 2.7 million copies on its very first day.

According to data from Luminate, shared via Billboard, this marks Swift’s biggest-ever release week — and the album hasn’t even completed seven days yet.

Even more impressively, The Life of a Showgirl has already secured its place in music history as the second-highest-selling album in a single week, trailing only Adele’s 25, which sold 3.8 million copies during its record-breaking debut in 2015.

What’s even more remarkable is that these figures only account for U.S. sales, demonstrating Swift's unstoppable power.

Not only that, but Taylor has also surpassed her own record for vinyl sales. The Life of a Showgirl sold 1.2 million vinyl copies in its first week, surpassing her previous record of 859,000 for The Tortured Poets Department in 2024.

The numbers include physical and digital pre-orders, as well as over-the-counter purchases, according to Billboard.

On streaming platforms, Swift is rewriting records too. Within 12 hours of the album’s release, Spotify announced that it had become the most streamed album in a single day in 2025, while Apple Music confirmed it had achieved the same feat on their platform.

Amazon Music went one step further, calling it the most-streamed album in a single day in the platform’s entire history.

To celebrate the release, Taylor hosted a special theatrical event, Taylor Swift: The Official Release Party of a Showgirl, which ran from October 3–5 and dominated the weekend box office. The film gave fans a cinematic peek into the world of The Life of a Showgirl — a mix of visuals, sound, and storytelling only Taylor could pull off.

Still, the numbers — and the fan response — speak for themselves. With The Life of a Showgirl, Taylor Swift has once again shown the world that her artistry, ambition, and connection with her fans are unmatched.
