The Upside Down came alive once again, this time in Los Angeles. The Stranger Things 5 world premiere at the TCL Chinese Theatre on November 6, celebrated on Stranger Things Day, turned into a grand farewell party for Netflix’s iconic sci-fi saga. Cast, creators, and die-hard fans gathered for a night of nostalgia and emotional goodbyes as the show gears up for its fifth and final season, premiering November 26.
Hosted by Josh Horowitz, the event was live-streamed for fans worldwide, featuring exclusive interviews, red carpet appearances, and a first look at the opening five minutes of Stranger Things 5. If you missed the action, here are the five most memorable highlights from the night.
Millie Bobby Brown reflects on Eleven’s legacy
Millie Bobby Brown, who grew up alongside her character Eleven, spoke about the profound connection fans have built with the telekinetic teen. “I’m very lucky to meet young people who are so deeply moved by Eleven and her story,” she said. “She’s helped me grow in many ways. As a young woman myself, I’m deeply inspired by her.”
Millie promised fans that Season 5 will deliver a “really satisfying” conclusion, one that honours both the characters and the audience who’ve followed them for nearly a decade.

Priah Ferguson, who plays the scene-stealing Erica Sinclair, shared her favourite one-liner from the show’s history, “You bald bastard!” — a dig at Murray Bauman in the Season 3 finale. “She’s not four, she’s ten,” Priah laughed, explaining why Erica’s sass remains undefeated.

The dads of Hawkins steal the red carpet
Fans were in for a surprise when Joe Chrest (Ted Wheeler) traded his recliner for a velvet suit and silver hairdo, sending social media into meltdown. Meanwhile, Matthew Modine (Dr Brenner), affectionately known as “Papa,” drew cheers and swoons alike. Fans called him “OHHHHH DADDYYYY” on X. Clearly, Hawkins’ dads had their own fan following.

In a touching red carpet moment, Winona Ryder (Joyce Byers) teared up while speaking about her younger co-stars. “I feel like this season I got to spend time with all of them,” she said, choking up before singing a line from Dolly Parton’s I Will Always Love You. Fans instantly felt the emotion — “Who’s cutting onions?” became the evening’s unofficial response online.
