The Marvel Cinematic Universe fans have been eagerly awaiting the return of Bruce Banner, aka Hulk, in the upcoming film Avengers: Doomsday. However, Mark Ruffalo has recently teased about his character’s return in the film.

In an interview with Empire Magazine, Mark Ruffalo revealed that he will not be part of the movie. He said that if the studio came up with new concepts for the Hulk, he would come back. For the time being, this declaration puts an end to the rumours.

The actor also teased that he may next appear as Hulk in the Spider-Man sequel.

The actor talked about his decision and said, “As long as they keep finding cool things to do with Hulk. It's given me so many gifts. You know, I probably wouldn't be in Crime 101 if it wasn't for The Avengers.”

The actor revealed that he will be a part of the future Spider-Man Brand New Day, in which he might change into a more ferocious Hulk. Because of this commitment, he already has a full calendar; it is unlikely that he will make an appearance in Avengers Doomsday.

The team is not weakened by Bruce Banner's absence. Rather, it creates room for fresh storylines and people. Epic conflicts are still promised in the movie, and the authors are free to experiment with different forces and coalitions.

Furthermore, the Hulk might play a bigger part in the future Avengers Secret Wars, which is scheduled for December 2027.

This comes after Marvel had released the four teasers of the Avengers: Doomsday.

The first teaser revealed that Chris Evans is all set to return as Steve Rogers. Chris Hemsworth's Thor and his adopted daughter, Love, were featured in the second teaser. With the first glimpse of Fox's X-Men making a comeback, the third teaser was the longest yet. The Wakandans and the Fantastic Four came together in the fourth teaser.

The actor will make a significant comeback to the franchise by starring in one of the MCU's 2026 productions. Ruffalo joins Tom Holland in the cast of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, along with actors like Jon Bernthal and Sadie Sink.
