Friends actress Lisa Kudrow has one major suggestion for Warner Bros. Discovery's new owner. The Friends star requested that the studio preserve the lot in Burbank, California, where she filmed the cherished comedy, as it is.
During a recent interview with Architectural Digest, the actress said, “It’s hard for me to tell whether Warner Bros. is just special to me, or if it’s special to the whole city or industry, and I think it is. Everything changes ownership all the time, and you don’t know what’s going to happen.”
Lisa continued, “I think most people really really hope whatever happens next is that this studio lot is preserved as is. It works. I mean, we just shot here. Whoever buys it, you don’t need to change anything! It works. It works great! It really does. So congratulations, whoever’s next, please don’t change a thing. Please, please don’t remove Jack Warner’s roses.”
Lisa also listed Warner Bros. as one of her favourite places in Los Angeles, especially since she spent at least ten years living on the studio lot while filming Friends.
In addition to Lisa, the popular sitcom, which ran for ten years from 1994 to 2004, also starred Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, and David Schwimmer in the lead. For most of its duration, it was filmed on Stage 24, which, after the series conclusion, came to be known as The Friends Stage.
Warner Bros. is known for being the location of numerous iconic films, including Casablanca, Inception, Blade Runner, The Matrix, and The Goonies.
Lisa Kudrow's remarks coincided with the ongoing dispute between Netflix and Paramount Skydance regarding Warner Bros. Netflix, which is led by co-CEOs Ted Sarandos and Greg Peters, revealed in December that it will pay around $82 billion to acquire Warner Bros.
Discovery, which includes HBO and HBO Max. In retaliation, Paramount Skydance, owned by David Ellison, made a hostile offer of $108.7 billion for the entire business, including its cable networks.
David Ellison's company launched a lawsuit to compel Warner Bros. to provide more details about how it selected the rival offer after Warner Bros. finally turned down Paramount's offering in favour of Netflix's. As a result, Netflix changed its bid to include only cash, which increased pressure on Paramount.
