Filmmaker Suresh Triveni is riding on the global success of Subedaar. The film, which starred megastar Anil Kapoor and struck a chord with Indian audiences, has now made its way to Japan at the Shibuya Crossing following its impressive billboard at Times Square.
This is a huge occasion as it is one of the few Hindi films to leave a lasting cultural impact in the area.
Subedaar, which is presently available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video, continues to show how captivating Indian stories can overcome boundaries and resonate across languages and geographies with its deep storytelling and intriguing narrative.
Filmmaker Suresh Triveni expressed his excitement and talked about the huge moment. He shared, “I am very happy with the response the film is getting from India and worldwide. It shows that with a strong platform like Amazon Prime, filmmakers can explore newer territories."
Following the Times Square moment, Subedaar became the first Hindi film to light up at the world's busiest crosswalk in Shibuya, Japan.
The film’s growing international presence further underscores his distinct voice as a storyteller who seamlessly blends realism with emotional depth.
Subedaar, a gritty and emotionally intense action-drama, centres on retired soldier Subedaar Arjun Maurya, whose peaceful civilian existence is upended by a careless deed. He must deal with crime, corruption, and moral dilemmas after being forced to return to a chaotic world in order to defend his family and restore his honour.
Directed by Suresh Triveni, the film is produced by Anil Kapoor, Vikram Malhotra, and Triveni. Radhikka Madan plays important parts in the film alongside Saurabh Shukla, Aditya Rawal, Faisal Malik, Mona Singh, and Khushboo Sundar.
The film has created a buzz at the international level. Acclaimed Hollywood filmmaker Christopher McQuarrie has reportedly reached out to Anil Kapoor after seeing portions of the film.
Subedaar premiered on Prime Video on March 5 in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu across India and in over 240 countries and territories worldwide.
Looking ahead, Suresh Triveni is already preparing for his next big film, Maa Behen, which will star Madhuri Dixit and Triptii Dimri. The movie, which is on Netflix's upcoming schedule, promises to be another gripping story from the director.
