Julia Roberts has recently graced the 2026 Golden Globes at the Beverly Hilton on Sunday, January 11. She was nominated for the Best Motion Picture-Musical or Comedy award.
Although she failed to bag an award, the audience honoured her with a standing ovation. The actress entered the stage to present an award when the audience stood up and applauded for her.
Julia Roberts said, “Thank You,” while teasing the stragglers to rise, "Yup. Everybody! Let's go! In the back! Come on!”
The actress jokingly called on attendee Emma Stone to join the ovation. She joked, "She's like what the hell is going on right now?"
Following the sweet tribute, Julia Roberts said, "I’m gonna be impossible for at least a week. I appreciate that." She added, “What a great night. What a beautiful night to be an artist. This is 2026. We’re going straight to the top on this."
Julia Roberts presented One Battle After Another by Paul Thomas Anderson with the prize.
Shortly after, George Clooney, Julia Roberts' longtime friend and frequent collaborator, presented the evening's last prize, Best Motion Picture-Drama. Don Cheadle gently teased him about not receiving a standing ovation.
Julia Roberts was nominated for Best Actress in a Motion Picture for her performance in Sunday's film After the Hunt. However, Jessie Buckley of Hamnet won the award.
Jessie Buckley fangirled over Julia and said in her acceptance speech, “Oh my God, the incredible women I am honored to stand beside in this category. I mean, Julia Roberts - you are like a hero to us all."
