  • Emma Stone earns her seventh Oscar nomination at age 37, youngest woman to do so
  • She is first woman nominated twice for acting and producing the same film
  • Bugonia also nominated for best adapted screenplay and original score

Emma Stone‘s two 2026 Oscar nominations, Best Picture for producing and Best Actress for starring in Bugonia revealed just how extraordinary her career trajectory has become.

At 37, Emma Stone has now collected seven Oscar nominations, a number that places her in remarkably rare company.

She is the second-youngest person ever to reach that milestone and, notably, the youngest woman to do so. Only Walt Disney achieved seven nominations at a younger age, back in 1936.

Until now, the benchmark for women belonged to Meryl Streep, who reached her seventh nomination at 38.

What makes this year particularly special is how fully Emma Stone has stepped into her dual role as both performer and creative force.

With Bugonia, she has once again been recognised for acting in — and producing — the same film. She first achieved this with Poor Things in 2023, following Frances McDormand’s trailblazing example with Nomadland in 2021.

As per in a report by Hollywood Reporter, Emma Stone is now the first woman to do it twice, a testament to how confidently she has moved behind the camera while remaining one of Hollywood’s most compelling screen presences.

Of her five previous Oscar nominations, Emma Stone has already turned two into wins, both for best actress. Her victories for La La Land and Poor Things cemented her reputation as an actor capable of combining emotional vulnerability with fearless originality.

Another win would edge her closer to an elite group of women who have claimed the trophy three or more times — a list currently limited to Katharine Hepburn, Frances McDormand and Meryl Streep.

This year’s best actress race sees Emma Stone up against Jessie Buckley, Rose Byrne, Kate Hudson and Renate Reinsve, while Bugonia itself is competing in a packed best picture field.

The film has also earned nominations for best adapted screenplay and best original score, reinforcing its all-round critical acclaim.
