Anime fans were sent into a frenzy after the makers unveiled the trailer for the remastered version of the well-known anime Dragon Ball Super, dubbed Dragon Ball Super: Beerus, on Sunday. This comes after the announcement of its release date at the Dragon Ball Genkidama Matsuri event in Japan.

According to Variety, the event will debut in the autumn of 2026. The reports suggested that the improved version has extensive visual improvements, such as new animation cuts, updated scenes, a full re-rendering of all the video, newly recorded voice acting, and a completely redesigned musical score and sound design.

The project started a few years ago with the goal of using state-of-the-art visual techniques to provide a more authentic version of creator Akira Toriyama's original work.

The film's creators claim that it jumps to the moment when Beerus is first introduced as the deity of destruction.

Goku and Beerus engage in combat in the teaser, which sends shockwaves across the cosmos. After Goku becomes a deity, Beerus, who initially seems unbeatable, seems to be having difficulties.

The teaser was posted on Toei Animation's Instagram account.

The outlet also revealed that voice actors Masako Nozawa (Son Goku) and Koichi Yamadera (God of Destruction Beerus), along with executive producer Akio Iyoku, made the revelation during a live stage presentation at Makuhari Messe.

The improved series is a full reconstruction of the original "Dragon Ball Super" television anime, which included character designs, story ideas, and original work by Toriyama. Increased visual immersion is promised in the production, especially during combat scenes.

The same event also unveiled Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol, a new anime series that carries on the plot of the Universe Survival Arc from the 2015–2018 broadcast period.

Meanwhile, the official synopsis of Dragon Ball Super: Beerus reads, “Several years have passed since the fierce battle against Majin Buu, and Earth has finally regained a brief moment of peace. At the same time, Beerus, the God of Destruction, awakens from his long, deep sleep. Even Kai and Supreme Kai, aware of Beerus's overwhelming power to destroy entire planets, watch his awakening with great fear."

It continued, "Meanwhile, Beerus hears rumours of a Saiyan who defeated Frieza and suddenly appears before Goku. Targeted by Beerus, the strongest being in the universe, Earth is in grave danger. Thus begins an Earth-shattering cosmic battle between the God of Destruction and Goku and his allies--a conflict that will shake the entire universe."
