Veteran actor Crispin Glover, best known for his role as George McFly in the Back to the Future franchise, has been hit with a civil lawsuit accusing him of battery, fraud, wrongful eviction, emotional distress and violations of California civil rights law.
The complaint was filed this week in the Superior Court of California, and it names Glover as the defendant in what his legal team calls “baseless allegations.”
The plaintiff, identified only as Jane Doe in court papers, is described as a model originally from the United Kingdom. According to the complaint, she met Crispin through social media in 2015 and alleges he later encouraged her to move to Los Angeles with promises of work, housing and a fresh start in the entertainment industry.
After relocating to Los Angeles in 2024 under the belief that she would become Glover’s assistant and live in one of his residences, the lawsuit claims the situation quickly became “disturbing.” The filing alleges that Crispin began to exert control over her movements, track her whereabouts and coerce her into serving as a live-in partner and unpaid worker. At one point, the complaint says, he even showed her “Nazi memorabilia” from his personal collection during a meeting abroad, an incident the plaintiff says caused discomfort and alarm.
A central allegation in the lawsuit is that on an early March day in 2024, Jane told Crispin she intended to step out to visit a mosque. She alleges that upon her return, she found herself locked out of the home with all of her belongings inside, including her pet cats, and was told to find alternative housing. When she attempted to re-enter the property to retrieve her things, the complaint states Crispin assaulted her — grabbing her neck and choking her in a headlock, leaving visible marks and a scar on her neck.
In addition to claims of battery, the lawsuit accuses Glover of filing a “false police report” and seeking a restraining order against her, which she says harmed her reputation when it became public. Jane Doe is seeking a jury trial and various damages, including compensation for emotional distress and legal costs.
Crispin Glover has strongly denied the allegations. In statements shared with media outlets, his representatives described the claims as “baseless” and asserted that Glover himself was the victim of an unprovoked assault by Jane Doe at his residence in March 2024, prompting him to contact the Los Angeles Police Department at the time. His team says police records and the restraining order he filed back then support his account.
