Himesh Reshammiya on launching Deepika Padukone in his music video before her Bollywood debut: 'She was a star from day 1'

Long before she became one of the biggest stars in the industry, Deepika featured in Himesh’s 2006 music video Naam Hai Tera from his hit album Aap Kaa Surroor.

Himesh Reshammiya, who is currently seen in his latest film Badass Ravikumar, recently reflected on his role in giving Deepika Padukone one of her first big breaks before she entered Bollywood with Om Shanti Om.

Long before she became one of the biggest stars in the industry, Deepika featured in Himesh’s 2006 music video Naam Hai Tera from his hit album Aap Kaa Surroor. The composer-singer played a crucial role in introducing her to the audience, and he recently shared his thoughts on her journey and rise to stardom.

In an interview with Pinkvilla, Himesh spoke about Deepika’s screen presence and talent, recalling how she stood out from the very beginning. He described her as a born star, praising her charisma and the impact she made right from her early days in the industry.

"She was a star from day 1. Humne toh aur bhi ladkiyo ko launch kiya hai, but vo sab Deepika nahi bani," Himesh said during the interview.

Deepika Padukone featured alongside Himesh Reshammiya in the music video Naam Hai Tera in 2006, marking one of her earliest screen appearances. A year later, she made her Bollywood debut opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Farah Khan’s blockbuster Om Shanti Om, which catapulted her to stardom.

Meanwhile, Himesh Reshammiya is currently riding high on the success of his latest film, Badass Ravikumar, a sequel to The Xposé. In this action-packed sequel, Himesh reprises his role as Ravi Kumar, a fearless protagonist who takes on criminals in his signature style. The film follows his journey as he encounters new challenges and formidable villains, adding to the intrigue and intensity of the narrative.

Joining Himesh in this high-energy entertainer are actors like Prabhu Deva, Kirti Kulhari, Simona J, Saurabh Sachdeva, Sanjay Mishra, and Johnny Lever. Despite mixed reviews, Badass Ravikumar has managed to collect approximately Rs 8 crore within two weeks of its release.
