South Indian actress Nayanthara has released an open letter to popular actor Dhanush after receiving a Rs 10 crore legal notice from him for using a 3-second clip from the 2015 Tamil film 'Naanum Rowdy Dhaan' in her upcoming documentary.
THREE PAGE OPEN LETTER TO DHANUSHThe 'Jawan' actress took to Instagram to criticize Dhanush, calling him "vile" for issuing the Rs 10 crore legal notice. She expressed her frustration, stating that someone as established as Dhanush, with the backing of his influential family, should understand that for people like her, the film industry is a constant struggle for survival. The caption of her post read, “@dhanushkraja OM NAMAH SHIVAYA,” accompanied by a folded hand emoji.
WHAT IS IN THE THREE SECOND CLIP USED BY NAYANTHARA FOR HER DOCUMENTARY?
The three-second clip in question features Nayanthara, from the sets of 'Naanum Rowdy Dhaan', having a conversation with her now-husband, Vignesh Shivan, who directed the film. The footage was captured on Nayanthara's "personal devices," and Dhanush has filed a lawsuit seeking damages for 'copyright infringement.'
Nayanthara's husband, Vignesh Shivan, has also shared the video, humorously writing...
The open letter has gone viral, prompting several actresses who have worked with Dhanush to react. Shruti Haasan, who worked with Dhanush in 3 (Moonu), showed her support for Nayanthara by ‘liking’ the actress’s post, subtly signaling that she is on Team Nayanthara.
Other co-stars of Dhanush, including Aishwarya Rajesh (Vada Chennai), Aishwarya Lekshmi (Jagame Thandhiram), Nazriya Fahadh (Naiyaandi), Anupama Parameswaran (Kodi), Parvathy Thiruvothu (Maryan), Manjima Mohan (Nilavuku Enmel Ennadi Kobam), and Gouri G Kishan (Karnan), have also shown their support for Nayanthara by ‘liking’ her post. Parvathy took it a step further by sharing the post on her Instagram Stories and saluting Nayanthara.
VIGNESH SHIVAN SUPPORT NAYANTHARASupporting his wife, Vignesh Shivan shared an old clip of Dhanush from the audio launch of the 2017 film 'Sakka Podu Podu Raja', where Dhanush spoke about love, hate, and creative collaboration. In his speech, Dhanush emphasized the importance of celebrating others' successes and avoiding negativity. Vignesh posted the clip to highlight what he saw as hypocrisy, captioning it, "Vaazhu Vaazha udu #spreadLove #OmNamaShivaya, at least for the sake of some innocent die-hard fans who believe all of this! I sincerely pray to God! For people to change and find happiness in other people’s happiness."
The caption seemed to mock Dhanush’s past advice, urging him to practice what he preaches. Vignesh emphasized the importance of living and letting live, particularly for the sake of fans who look up to their idols. His message suggested that individuals in the industry should lead by example and find joy in others’ successes.
NAANUM ROWDY DHAANNayanthara starred opposite Vijay Sethupathi in the Tamil film 'Naanum Rowdy Dhaan', which was produced by Dhanush's production company, Wunderbar Films. The romantic comedy was written and directed by Nayanthara's husband, filmmaker Vignesh Shivan.
