In Mandala Murders, Siddhanth Kapoor takes on the role of Ajay Yadav—brief, dark, and crucial to the story’s unfolding.

In an exclusive interview with Moneycontrol, Siddhanth speaks about getting into the mindset of this intense character, his experience working with Vaani Kapoor, and what's next on his slate, including exciting new projects across genres and platforms.

Excerpts from the interview: 

Q: Siddhanth, you play Ajay Yadav in Mandala Murders, a brief but important role. What was your approach to getting into the mindset of such a dark character?

Siddhanth: The brief that was sent to me by Shanoo Sharma who casted me for the part was that it was quite a crazy character or two brothers. It was quite pivotal for the negative side of the story in the first two episodes. So yeah, working with the S. Raj has always been a dream in some way or the other, so it was quite something to play this part.

Q2: What drew you to Mandala Murders and this particular role?

Siddhanth: And the role which was given to me was quite something which I would always like to take up like, you know, something which is not me, something which is crazy, and yeah, it was quite a psychological struggle, so.

Q3: How was it working with Vaani Kapoor and other actors during the shoot?

Siddhanth: Vani was amazing and it was really nice to work with Vani on set with surveying with the whole crew actually was a very nice team, a very professional, super talented. Yeah, so that was one of the words that I thought that was good.

Dark characters, I've always liked since starting to play because yeah, that does play an important part for that also, but it's always a lot challenging when you play these characters. So yeah, it was quite amazing for me to play this. Well, yeah, I don't really think about what I'm going to take up and what I'm not going to take up.

Q4: Are you interested in exploring other genres or mediums, like web series or theatre?

Siddhanth:  If something interests me, I will take it up, be it play, be it series, be it a film. It should just excite me, the character, the story, the whole vibe, the whole setup, the whole, you know. Yeah, I have quite a lot of things which are coming out.

Q5: What can fans expect next from Siddhanth Kapoor? Any exciting projects in the pipeline?

Siddhanth: I've got a film with Navas, I've got a film with Marvel, some really looking forward to there's a very different character in another film, which is a very indoor. So yeah, waiting for that also directed by Mr. Sarim, also directed me in this movie called Asek, which was quite a hit.
