Adolescence actor Owen Cooper who is just 15-year-old has become the youngest male actor to ever win an Emmy and it was one of the most poignant and memorable moments of the 2025 Emmy Awards.
For his strong performance in Netflix's Adolescence, the rising star won the award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or TV Movie. His sincere acceptance speech soon became the evening's high point.
The crowd started cheering as his name was called. Owen, who was obviously overcome, thanked his parents and the cast and crew of Adolescence as he walked confidently onto the stage. His remarks, which were straightforward but poignant, demonstrated how far he has come in such a short period of time.
“A couple years back I didn’t expect to be in the United States, let alone here. Tonight proves if you listen, you focus and you step out of your comfort zone, you can achieve anything in life. I was nothing three years ago. I’m here now,” he told the crowd, drawing applause and admiration.
He went on to add, “If you step out of your comfort zone, who cares if you get embarrassed? Anything can be possible.”
In Adolescence, Cooper plays Jamie Miller, a 13-year-old boy accused of murdering a classmate in a series inspired by real-life events involving youth violence and stabbings. It’s a deeply challenging role, but Cooper’s raw and nuanced performance has drawn widespread praise—and this Emmy win only cements his status as one to watch.

As per Economic Times, before Cooper’s win, the youngest male actor to take home an Emmy was Jharrel Jerome, who was 21 when he won in 2019 for When They See Us. At just 15, Cooper’s achievement is not only remarkable—it’s inspirational.
Adolescence received over 141 million views in just three months after its release, making it Netflix's second-biggest hit after Wednesday.
