Producer Ekta Kapoor and her mother, Shobha Kapoor, are facing legal challenges after a case was filed against them under the POCSO Act. The allegations stem from purportedly inappropriate scenes featuring minor girls in an episode of the ALT Balaji web series Gandi Baat.
The legal case pertains to season 6 of the web series Gandi Baat on the OTT platform ALT Balaji. The complaint alleges that this series, which aired on ALT Balaji from February to April 2021, contained explicit scenes involving minor girls. However, the controversial episode in question is no longer available for streaming on the platform.
According to the Mumbai Police, a complaint has been filed against Balaji Telefilm Limited, Ekta Kapoor, and her mother, Shobha Kapoor, at the MHB police station in Mumbai. The case is registered under Section 295-A of the IPC, the IT Act, and Sections 13 and 15 of the POCSO Act.
Gandi Baat features an anthology of short stories that delves into individuals' most profound and hidden desires as they navigate the complexities of maintaining their relationships.
The show debuted on the OTT platform in 2018 and has since aired seven seasons, concluding in 2023. It falls within the adult comedy genre.
Directed by Sachin Mohite for ALTBalaji, this series, which was previously available on ZEE5 and MX Player, has now been taken down due to its adult content. The removal follows the implementation of new OTT platform regulations by the Indian government.
In the meantime, Ekta Kapoor's drama film Love, Sex Aur Dhokha 2 hit theaters on April 19. Directed by Dibakar Banerjee, the film, often referred to as LSD 2, continues the exploration of complex relationships and societal themes.
