Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana producer, Namit Malhotra, has recently revealed a key detail about the budget of the upcoming two-part epic saga. The film is said to be made on the budget of Rs 4,000 crore, making it India’s biggest production so far.
However, Sanjay Gupta, who is a filmmaker, producer and screenwriter, seemingly took a subtle dig at the Ramayana makers. Soon after the reports of the film’s budget went viral, he dropped a cryptic tweet mentioning filmmakers making big-budget Hollywood movies without any buzz before the release.
He took to his official X (formerly Twitter) account and wrote, “MATRIX, LORD OF THE RINGS, AVATAAR, DUNE, STARWARS, etc. All films with groundbreaking never seen before VFX. None spoke about it before the release. They let the work speak for itself."

Although Sanjay didn’t directly mention the name of Ramayan. The timeline and the context of the tweet raised suspicion among the fans. However, several fans agreed in the comment section and questioned the need to disclose such massive budget figures before release.
Meanwhile, Ramayana is directed by Nitesh Tiwari and is a two-part mythological film. The cast has recently wrapped up the shooting of the first part of the film. The film promises a visual spectacle and cinematic brilliance with cutting-edge VFX and a global production scale.

The upcoming mythological saga is set to hit the theatres in two parts, with the first instalment scheduled to be released on Diwali 2026. However, Ramayana: Part 2 is slated for Diwali 2027 release.
