Director Lokesh Kanagaraj keen on Master 2 with Thalapathy Vijay, says "Vijay Anna has to decide..."

Lokesh Kanagaraj talks about working on Master 2 with Thelapathy Vijay

Recently, renowned Tamil director Lokesh Kanagaraj, who is praised for his intense blockbusters like Kaithi, Vikram, and Leo, revealed his own artistic preferences.

Although fans are excitedly awaiting a follow-up to the 2023 blockbuster Leo, Lokesh disclosed that he has a particular place in his heart for Master (2021), which starred Thalapathy Vijay as JD.

In a candid conversation with film critic Sudhir Srinivasan, the director shared, “Only time can tell, and Vijay Anna has to decide. We can bring him in for a cameo, but I want to do Master with him. Everyone is waiting for Leo 2, but I want to do Master with him.”

Expanding on his vision, Lokesh explained why Master remains close to him. “I think there’s a part of that story which remains untold. It’s there in the first one without any conclusion. I just want to do that film. I personally like the vibe of JD very much. Leo is a strong character and people love it, but if you personally ask me, I have a proper idea for Master 2 and he also knows it. But it’s all about timing – he now has other things he wants to achieve.”

The future of either Master 2 or Leo 2 is still up in the air because Thalapathy Vijay is allegedly getting ready to enter politics after his upcoming movie, Jana Nayagan.

Lokesh discussed his future plans for the larger Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU). "I'll begin with Kaithi 2 after Coolie. I still haven't finished writing Vikram 2, which I also need to do with Kamal Sir. He indicated a change in narrative focus when he stated, "Last but not least, it must be Leo 2, but we must plan it without keeping Leo Das in mind."

Meanwhile, Coolie, Lokesh's upcoming film as director, is set to open in theatres on August 14. Rajinikanth, Nagarjuna, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, Sathyaraj, Shruti Haasan, and Reba Monica John are among the ensemble cast members of the eagerly awaited action entertainer.

Aamir Khan makes an unexpected appearance in the movie, and Pooja Hegde performs a special number. Anirudh Ravichander is composing the music.
