BLACKPINK’s Jisoo is set to return to the K-drama space with Boyfriend on Demand, a romantic comedy that leans into modern loneliness, emotional burnout, and the growing appeal of relationships without real-world complications. The series, which has already generated strong buzz online, will stream on Netflix, making it easily accessible to viewers in India and across the globe.
Boyfriend on Demand is scheduled to premiere on March 6, 2026, and will consist of 10 episodes. The announcement came alongside the release of a short teaser that quickly caught attention for its relatable tone and sleek visual style. Rather than selling fantasy outright, the teaser speaks directly to people exhausted by everyday life and disillusioned with real-world dating, yet still yearning for romance and emotional connection.
In the series, Jisoo plays Seo Mi-rae, a hardworking webtoon producer who feels emotionally drained and increasingly detached from traditional relationships. Seeking comfort without risk, she signs up for a subscription-based virtual dating service. The platform allows users to go on carefully curated dates in digital worlds, offering romance on demand without the emotional messiness that comes with real intimacy.
Opposite her is Seo In-guk, who plays Park Kyeong-nam, Mi-rae’s virtual boyfriend. His character appears to be almost too perfect, ticking every box when it comes to charm, manners, and emotional attentiveness. As teased, his growing presence begins to blur the line between comfort and escapism, raising questions about what Mi-rae is willing to give up for an easier version of love.
The series is directed by Kim Jung-sik and features a strong ensemble cast including Ryu Abel, Park Ji Ho, Kang Min Woo, Song Ha Na, Yoo Sun Ho, Kim Sung Cheol, Gong Min Jun, Seo Hyo Rim, and Ko Kyu Pil. Lee Soo-hyuk and Park Ha-young are also set to make special guest appearances, reportedly portraying other virtual boyfriends within the digital dating world.
Originally planned as a television broadcast, Boyfriend on Demand later became a Netflix original, expanding its international reach. The show was filmed in the Philippines, lending both its real and virtual settings a visually fresh look.
For Jisoo, the drama follows her 2025 projects Newtopia and Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy, while Seo In-guk continues his steady run after acclaimed works like Reply 1997 and Death’s Game. With its timely themes and popular lead pairing, Boyfriend on Demand is shaping up to be one of Netflix’s most anticipated K-dramas of 2026.
