When Yasser Usman refuted claims of Rekha’s live-in relationship with manager Farzana

Yasser Usman and Rekha live in relationship

Rekha has always been one of Bollywood’s most enigmatic stars, and the intrigue around her personal life has never faded. From her widely discussed relationship with Amitabh Bachchan to her brief marriage with Mukesh Aggarwal, the veteran actor’s private world has long fascinated fans. There was also a wave of curiosity on her decades-long association with her manager, Farzana.

For over 30 years, Farzana has been a constant presence by Rekha’s side. She has been a confidante, caretaker, and an unwavering support system for Rekha. Known for her crisp suits, short hair, and understated demeanour, she often walks a step behind the star, ensuring everything around Rekha flows seamlessly. When cameras stop flashing, it is Farzana who steps forward to guide Rekha away from the crowd.

Though time has added spectacles to her signature look, the mystery around her remains intact. Farzana, whose father worked as a production controller, initially aspired to become a filmmaker. According to author Yasser Usman, she assisted on several productions but soon realised directing wasn’t her calling. She eventually reached out to Rekha, beginning an unbreakable professional partnership that has lasted more than three decades.

Yasser Usman also noted that Farzana’s dedication went far beyond work. When her mother was ill, Farzana would tend to her early in the day and then rush to Rekha’s home to continue her duties. This was a commitment that Yasser described as having “literally given her life for Rekha.”

A purported excerpt attributed to Yasser Usman from his book Rekha: The Untold Story once went viral online, suggesting that Rekha and Farzana were in a live-in relationship. It further claimed that only Farzana was allowed into Rekha’s bedroom.

However, Usman strongly refuted these claims. Issuing a firm statement, he had said, "The quotes alleging a 'live-in relationship' ascribed to my book Rekha The Untold Story are a complete fabrication, falsification and misrepresentation evidently intended to create sensationalism. I vehemently assert that the quotes mentioned in the media articles are entirely absent from my book."

He added that “throughout the entire manuscript, the phrases 'live-in relationship' or 'hermetic existence' or 'the biography claiming the relationship is sexual' have never been used.” He criticised the rumours as “poor clickbait journalism.”

Yasser Usman also warned that legal action would follow if these fabricated quotes continued to be circulated.

Despite rampant online gossip, those close to Rekha insist her connection with Farzana is rooted in trust, loyalty, and decades of companionship.
