For any film, making the Academy’s shortlist is a monumental step. Out of dozens of global submissions, only 15 titles advance to the final voting round, bringing them closer to a nomination. With Homebound now part of this elite group, the team eagerly awaits 22 January, when the official nominations will be announced.

Reacting to the news, Vishal Jethwa spoke with raw emotion about what the achievement means to him. “This moment feels surreal and incredibly humbling. To see Homebound being shortlisted and progressing towards the Oscars is something I could have only dreamed of,” he shared. His gratitude extended not just to the audience but to those who shaped the film’s journey.

He added, “I want to sincerely thank Karan Johar sir for believing in this story and in us as artists… his vision and backing gave Homebound the wings it needed.”

Reflecting on his creative experience, Vishal Jethwa described working with director Neeraj Ghaywan as transformative. “Neeraj Ghaywan sir’s sensitivity, honesty, and clarity as a filmmaker pushed me to explore emotional depths I had never touched before,” he said, acknowledging how the director inspired him to grow as an actor.

He also spoke warmly of co-star Ishaan Khatter, saying, “I also want to thank Ishaan Khatter, whose passion and commitment elevated every scene, we learned so much from each other on this journey.”
