Varun Dhawan is gearing up for his much-anticipated film Border 2, in which he will be seen stepping into the role of Param Vir Chakra awardee Colonel Hoshiar Singh Dahiya in the upcoming patriotic spectacle.
In what is expected to be one of his most difficult and important roles to date, the actor will play the decorated war hero.
The teaser for the movie was released on November 16 by the producers, and it received an overwhelmingly positive reception from viewers, creating a lot of excitement and buzz.
Before the movie's big theatrical release, Anushka Dahiya, the granddaughter of Colonel Hoshiar Singh Dahiya, gave the team a heartfelt shoutout, heightening the excitement.
Taking to her social media, Anushka shared a frame featuring Varun Dhawan and Sunny Deol from the teaser launch event and expressed her pride and excitement for the project. She wrote, “We’re all very proud and excited for the film. The hard-work, sincerity and josh is truly mirrored in the teaser itself!”
Her enthusiastic message has further amplified the growing curiosity around Border 2, particularly around Varun Dhawan’s portrayal of Colonel Hoshiar Singh Dahiya and how convincingly he brings the revered war hero’s story to life.
At the teaser launch event, Varun Dhawan also paid tribute to the courage and sacrifices of the Indian Armed Forces. Reflecting on their selflessness, he said, “Hum civilians bahot lucky hai. Hume pata hi nahi hai wo log kitna tyaag rahe hai humare liye. Hum yaha baithe hi hai unki wajah se. Hum saas le paa rahe hai unki wajah se,” before adding, “We are so lucky to have our Army, Navy and Air Force together.”
Border 2 marks the second instalment of the iconic war drama franchise that began with J.P. Dutta’s 1997 film Border. The sequel is directed by Anurag Singh, who is known for films such as Kesari (2019), Punjab 1984 (2014), Jatt & Juliet (2012) and Dil Bole Hadippa! (2009).
The film boasts a powerful ensemble cast featuring Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Ahan Shetty and Diljit Dosanjh in key roles, along with Sonam Bajwa, Mona Singh and Medha Rana.
Border 2 is scheduled for a theatrical release on January 23, 2026, ahead of Republic Day.
