Actor and author Twinkle Khanna recently shared how she celebrated her birthday this year in an unexpected and delightfully aromatic way — not with the usual candles and cake, but by blending perfumes during a family trip abroad. The actor-turned-author, who celebrated her 52nd birthday on December 29, took to Instagram to post about her special day spent alongside her husband, actor Akshay Kumar, and their loved ones.
Twinkle revealed that instead of a traditional party, her family took her to the Musée du Parfum, a well-known perfume museum in Marrakesh that explores Moroccan fragrance history and the art of scent creation. Surrounded by more than 50 glass bottles of exotic essences — including notes like vetiver, caramel, amber and oud — she and her family immersed themselves in the world of fragrance.
In the caption, Twinkle wrote, “This year instead of blowing out candles,my birthday celebration entailed a lot of sniffing around. The family took me to the Musée du Parfum. We encountered over 50 glass bottles of fragrances like vetiver, caramel, oud and amber.”
She added, “Then we each blended a unique perfume from the essences we loved. Mine was called Birthday Note. Scents carry memories, and this one will follow me to airports, old sweaters, and days when I want to remember my birthday in Marakesh.”
In a short video collage shared on Instagram, Twinkle was seen sitting beside Akshay in a large hall filled with bottles, sniffing different aromas and experimenting with blending them to create unique personalized fragrances. Explaining her experience, she wrote that instead of blowing out birthday candles this year, her celebration involved “a lot of sniffing around.” From the collections they encountered, each family member blended their own signature scent. Twinkle christened hers “Birthday Note”, a fragrance she says carries memories she’ll associate with airports, cozy sweaters and special moments from the day.

Twinkle and Akshay have been married since 2001 and share two children, son Aarav and daughter Nitara. Beyond her social media presence, Twinkle is also a successful author known for books such as Mrs Funnybones and Pyjamas Are Forgiving. Meanwhile, Akshay continues to work on several upcoming film projects.
