Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Pandays next rom-com Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri is gradually creating a buzz before its release on Christmas Day.
The film will be available in theaters on December 25, and the first indications of a box office performance close to the opening of the film suggest that the movie may have a good opening especially with audiences seeking a light and cheerful festive watch.
Advance bookings for the opening day have already crossed Rs 68.14 lakh across India. So far, 16,079 tickets have been sold across 1,016 shows, largely driven by the Hindi 2D version.
Trade watchers expect these numbers to rise as the release date draws closer, helped by the holiday period and the popularity of Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday as an on-screen pair.
Just ahead of its release, Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri was granted a U/A 16+ certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification. According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, the certification came after the board suggested a few changes.
One scene in the first half was toned down, with around 15 seconds removed. In addition, certain offensive words were muted or omitted from the dialogue and subtitles. The CBFC also asked the makers to remove and mute acronyms referring to vulgar terms in a scene from the second half of the film.
After making these changes, the producers resubmitted the film on December 15. The final approved runtime is 145.41 minutes, which translates to two hours, 25 minutes and 41 seconds — a fairly standard length for a romantic comedy.
Directed by Sameer Vidwans, the film also features a strong supporting cast. Jackie Shroff, Tiku Talsania, Neena Gupta and Aruna Irani appear in important roles, adding experience and charm to the story.
The film is produced by Dharma Productions and Namah Pictures, with Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, Shareen Mantri Kedia, Kishor Arora and Bhumika Tewari backing the project.
